Mitchell is the Head Triathlon Coach at EBAT Triathlon and Lead Bike Fitter at Innersport Chiropractic. He has a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, with a focus in exercise physiology and nutrition from California State University, East Bay. He is an ASCA Level 1 and USAT level 1 certified coach.
Mitchell’s athletic resume includes accolades in swimming and currently as a top age-group triathlete. As a high school swimmer he was a championship finalist in the 500 Freestyle at the CIF-CCS Swimming Championships, and the 200 Fly at the Washington Open. Choosing to forgo collegiate swimming in the interest of academics, he switched his focus to triathlon. 2012 was a breakout year, as he won the amateur division at the Triathlon at Pacific Grove and took second overall at the California International Triathlon.
Mitchell did stay involved in swimming during college, transitioning roles from an athlete to a coach. Coaching provides him with the opportunity to simultaneously apply his knowledge from his Kinesiology degree with his personal experiences from training and competing. Like his athletic career, Mitchell first began coaching swimmers and now coaches triathletes as well. He has worked with a large range of ages and skill sets.
Mitchell also is an expert when it comes to swim, bike and run biomechanics. He currently works as the Head Bike Fitter at Press Play Analysis/Innersport Chiropractic where he utilizes technology such as surface electromyography, saddle and foot pressure sensors, and video to analyze athletes cycling position, and run stride.
Mitchell believes what makes a good coach is the ability to communicate their knowledge rather than their skill as an athlete. His experience has taught him that each person is different and must be motivated, educated and communicated with in a unique manner; a simple principle that is challenging to implement. Mitchell strives to continually find new ways to teach and converse with athletes in order to enhance performance.
Mitchell combines his education, personal athletic experiences, and years of coaching success to help athletes improve performance, prevent injuries, and meet their goals!
